Prof. Dr. Torsten Beyna is chief physician of the Medical Clinic (Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Metabolic Diseases) at the Evangelical Hospital Düsseldorf. He is a nationally and internationally recognized expert in gastrointestinal endoscopy, with a research focus on early detection and minimally invasive treatment of gastrointestinal tumors as well as disorders of the bile ducts and pancreas. The endoscopy unit he leads has been recognized as a World Endoscopy Organization "Center of Excellence" since 2007 and performs more than 10,000 endoscopic procedures annually; he is regularly named a top physician by Focus and Stern magazines.
