Specialist in internal medicine at the Endoscopy Center Vienna of the Wiener Privatklinik; since January 1, 2025 also head physician of the Vienna Red Cross. Studied medicine and earned his doctorate at the University of Vienna (1972–1977), completed internal medicine specialty training at the 1st Medical University Clinic Vienna (1978–1984). Postdoctoral stints with John Alexander-Williams (Birmingham), Sheila Sherlock (London), Steven Bloom (Hammersmith Hospital London) and Rosalyn Sussman Yalow (Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York). Received his venia legendi in internal medicine in 1987 and was a visiting professor at McMaster University (Canada). Clinical focus: gastroenterology, hepatology and endoscopy, as well as obesity, medical weight loss and long-COVID diagnostics.
