Univ.-Prof. Dr. Dr. med. Jonel Trebicka has been Director of the Department of Internal Medicine B (Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Endocrinology, and Clinical Infectious Diseases) at University Hospital Münster (UKM) since May 2022. Career: Trebicka studied at the University of Bonn, where he also completed his specialty training in internal medicine, gastroenterology, and hepatology. He also conducted research in Barcelona and, before moving to Münster, headed the Section of Translational Hepatology at University Hospital Frankfurt. Research: His scientific focus is on liver disease, particularly cirrhosis and portal hypertension. He aims to establish a reference center for liver disease, hepatobiliary endoscopy, and oncology through innovative diagnostic and therapeutic approaches, placing strong emphasis on basic and translational research to give patients access to modern therapies.
