Director of the Department of Gastroenterology, Gastrointestinal Oncology and Endocrinology at Göttingen University Medicine (since April 2014), W3 professorship in internal medicine. Previously W3 endowed professor of the German Cancer Aid at Philipps University Marburg (2012–2014), senior attending physician in Marburg (2006–2012) and attending physician at Ulm University Hospital (2005). Habilitated in Ulm in 2005 on TGFß-regulated transcription in pancreatic cancer. Research focus: signaling and transcriptional pathways in the tumorigenesis of gastrointestinal malignancies, and molecular diagnostics and targeted therapies (molecular tumor board). Awarded the Max Eder Fellowship of the German Cancer Aid (2003–2008), the Hirshberg Research Prize of the European Pancreatic Club (2009) and the Kussmaul Prize (2004).
