The Department of General Internal Medicine, Oncology/Hematology, Gastroenterology and Infectious Diseases at Klinikum Esslingen is led by Prof. Dr. Henning Wege. Services include endoscopy with biopsy, endoscopic removal of large polyps, ERCP-based biliary and gallstone procedures, ultrasound (ultrasound center), diagnosis and treatment of liver disease and gastrointestinal tumors (stomach, colon, liver, pancreas), chronic inflammatory bowel disease, reflux disease/Barrett's esophagus, and acute and chronic pancreatitis. An affiliated outpatient gastroenterology practice (MVZ) rounds out the outpatient offering.
