Prof. Dr. Ewert Schulte-Frohlinde is chief physician of the Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Metabolic Diseases, Nephrology and General Internal Medicine at Klinikum Freising. Under his leadership the department performs around 4,000 endoscopies and 6,000 ultrasound examinations annually for the diagnosis of gastrointestinal, liver and pancreatic disorders as well as metabolic and hormonal conditions. Since July 2021 he has served as president of the Society for Gastroenterology in Bavaria, Germany’s largest regional gastroenterology association with around 460 members, having previously served for many years on its board. He advocates close collaboration between hospitals and office-based specialists to improve continuity of patient care.
